Lava from the volcano wiped everything out including trees, shrubs, and grass and also pushed animals away from their homes. Any animal that was to weak to escape the lava was killed in the action. after the lava flow stopped, came a heavy blanket of ash almost as if it were snowing. The ash prevented life to grow back quickly, but over time, the land began to thrive.
